About the Wooroloo Bushfire Memory Project
The 2021 Wooroloo Bushfire has had lasting impacts upon communities within the City of Swan and surrounding areas. The Wooroloo Bushfire Memory Project, coordinated by the City’s Library Services, is intended to record, preserve, and provide the opportunity to reflect upon these impacts.
Since the bushfire the Libraries’ Local History team have been collecting a variety of artefacts, from news articles and photographs, to public notices and text messages, and other everyday items.
In 2022 we started accepting public contributions from members of the community who wish to have their personal memories recorded in the collection.
The memories will be used to create a cohesive story of the Wooroloo Bushfire; the incredible community response to the unfolding disaster, the immediate aftermath, and the social and environmental recovery which continues to take place.
We will make these memories available through the City of Swan Libraries’ catalogue, and a sample of the collection will be featured on this website. All memories will be archived in the Local History collection.
If you would like to contribute to the collection you can send us images, videos, documents and scanned items via email.
If you would like to discuss your items and the best way to provide them to us, please contact our Libraries’ Local History team at memoryproject.library@swan.wa.gov.au or on (08) 9267 9020.
The City of Swan and Library Services would like to sincerely thank communities and individuals who contribute to this collection.
